eLearning has certain advantages over traditional, instructor led learning:

• Anytime, Anywhere: Learners get the flexibility to take courses at their convenience. Precious customer facing or in-the-market time is not spent in the classroom
• Flexible: The content can be customized and fine-tuned to the needs of the recipient. This is in contrast to the traditional one-size-fits all approach
• Swift and Timely: Instructor Led Training (ILT) is dependent on the schedules of both the trainee and trainer. Where Subject Matter Experts (SME) is in demand, people may have to wait a long time for a session, by which the subject matter could be rendered irrelevant

eLearning is thus best suited to today's dynamic business context. It is no wonder then that organizations have rushed to jump on the bandwagon.
