eLearning applications

Employees in manufacturing industry need to understand not just factory operation related factors but also attendant environment, safety and personal health issues. Attrition is low in this industry and thus there is a fair amount of resident knowledge on all of this. However, these practitioners or experts may not be able to devote a large amount of time to impart training. This underscores the importance of eLearning in manufacturing.

Manufacturing

Companies such as Motorola, Toyota, Ford, Chrysler, Intel and Ashok Leyland India have leveraged eLearning to build employee skills.

Unique needs

Some of the unique challenges in the realm of learning that the manufacturing industry faces:

Various touch points with business partners: Certain sections of employees have to interact with business partners who in turn interact with end customers. There is a pressing need for product knowledge to be transferred without distortions. Market facing people also need to be equipped with good selling and customer service skills.

Difficulty in demonstrating certain scenarios: There are instances where it is impossible to show a demo of live events happening as the cost would be prohibitive. Some examples are fire accidents, hazards, etc.

Training given by software makers generic: Various training modules are offered by makers of Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), Computer aided engineering (CAE), Computer Numerical Control (CNC) software. However, these are generic and not specific to requirements of specific companies.

Assessment of learning critical: The nature of the industry demands that the employees are conversant with processes before being deployed as errors would result in substantial costs.

The Astutix Difference

Astutix addresses these issues by and more by:

Practitioner based content development: We capture the expertise of practitioners through our domain consultants who act as a bridge to our learning experts. Domain experts thus do not have to spend large amounts of time away from work.

Simulation based blended learning: We present machine operations and assembly, product demos/services to the employees in a more effective manner through simulation based learning. This would also address scenarios such as fires and hazards that are cost-prohibitive to demonstrate.

Learning Module Transformation: We refine the existing material on software packages and systems through this offering. We also repurpose existing courses on sales and customer service, rapport building, etc

Learning Performance Measurement: We aid companies by validating the learning that has happened before employees are deployed in work. This would also help companies assess the effectiveness of the eLearning program initiated.
